Policy

The economy is central to the overall success of the district. Consequently our Economic Strategy acts as a core component of the new Sustainable Community Strategy and long-term vision for the district, which takes an integrated approach to achieving economic, social and environmental wellbeing.
Strong links are also prioritised between the economy and other key themes and strategies, including:
- The Local Development Framework and Core Strategy which will provide a spatial context for the Economic Strategy, and inform future approaches to planning and land use.
- The Joint Housing Strategy which focuses on supply and affordability.
- The Cultural Strategy for Bradford is around image, industry and creativity.
- The Strategic Learning Plan which sets the context for our focus on workforce skills, providing a comprehensive mapping of policies and funding streams.
- The Bradford District Transport Strategy sets out the priorities for a transport system that will facilitate and support a successful and growing economy.
- The Regional Economic Strategy identifies how Yorkshire and Humber will grow faster and better than its main competitors.
- The City Region Development Plan identifies a number of economic drivers including financial and business services, bioscience health and medical research and digital and creative industries.
The Beyond Bradford website is maintained by Bradford Council and provides links to key regional and cross-regional strategies affecting the Bradford District, as well as news, events and policy developments.
Briefing notes & consultations
In order to both improve our understanding of regional and national priorities, and influence their direction, we frequently produce briefing notes and respond to a variety of consultations.
